Guerilla Marketing Week 4

Image
Levinson describes the huge impact of ecommerce in the retail industry. The online forum of purchasing online material has evolved to accounting for 10 percent of global retail purchases. The significance of how large online stores has become has made an entire world of online branding and marketing. It was estimated back in 2003 to grow from $95.7 billion to $229 billion in the span of five years. (Levinson. J 2007) This online world has created an extreme convenience for customers, allowing them to get additional information on their buy and do it simply from their home by calling or purchasing from websites. Research has provided plenty of evidence that close to all companies bring in the most profit from their internet sources.   The main components of how this is so affective is first to obviously to begin with your product or service. Then creating a motivational website and sending emails with hyperlinks to direct potential customers to your store site. Ideally se...

Ascend Your Start-Up Chp 4

Helen Yu now transitions from when your product is at market camp and now to scale camp. When you have your product ready to go in your Start-Up you hire a sales leader that over sees all of your operations and advertising. Then the building blocks to complete it is an HR team, tech support, accounting, and then legal counsel. (Yu 2021) We understand throughout the chapter that the big mistake we forget to channel is building off of services for our company. The idea is to have many stable partners to gain traction and you use your filled positions to fix the parts of the market disconnect. We are introduced with two very important elements to focus on which is distribution channel strategy and scaling your customers. When we talk about channel strategy we mean that we have our market segmentation solidified and know who our target market is so we can rapidly produce revenue.   Understanding how to scale your customers will prevent miscalculations and having unbalanced p...

This weeks reading focuses on the matter of how we adapt to AI and be aware of the direction it is heading in. After reading last weeks material on understanding on how to take action with AI we now dive into how we can adapt with AI performing tasks humans used to do. Once AI tools and platforms are polished for use then that will allow humans to adapt in the sense that it will open jobs to manage AI and get involved with directly developing and analyzing data. Dr. Kelsey demonstrates a unique example about smartphones and who is really in control. Phones are so attached to our lives that it is "reflexive" to pick them up and prevents us from being proactive. (T. Kelsey 2019) However, given the fact we are so tied to our smartphones it optimizes the power of AI when developing apps and social networks that take away our attention. Given this note we understand how to make time to be a self starter and using AI to our advantage to take initiative. For example Dr. Kelsey note...

Week 3 Helen Yu Video Reflection

Image
So many interesting notes were made from author Helen Yu, the author of Ascend Your Start-up in this weeks video uploaded by Dr. Kelsey. It was very mind opening to hear some of her answers that intrigued her about entrepreneurship and some of the challenges she faced as a small business owner. Having limited resources and funding her brand before she could actually start up her company made me think a lot about what she has achieved. One thing I did not think about until I viewed the video was the challenge of being a women of color in entrepreneurship and what hardships that may come with. Knowing that aspect of her career I admire everything she must have gone through to get to the point she is at today.  The heart of the video evolves around her discussing how branding can happen before the company even starts which can be extremely beneficial. Your brand is how everyone outside of your company perceives you and what kind of impression you make with your vision and missio...

Guerilla Marketing Chp 3

In this weeks chapter we explore a new element to Guerilla marketing known as maximedia marketing. These are sources from mass media including news papers, magazines, radio, T.V, billboards and direct mail. The internet is also a crucial part of maximedia marketing and has been a key part in most of the chapters. (J. Levinson 2007) We dive into how advertising can be inexpensive when you execute it effectively. Understanding how to spend the money on an advertisement that is going to hit a large population and receiving profit from what you spent on the advertising is considered inexpensive. Effectively directing your promotions to places where people are going to take action will result in more profit and more money for your budget and to continue your advertising strategy.  Measuring responses from each strategy to see which one is the most effective is also very important. Calculating how much revenue you have from each radio commercial or magazine ad will show you what is...

Yu discusses in this chapter that when you are moving your product to the market it is a lonely route and potentially nobody will understand what your investing or experiencing. She makes a great point on how she didn't know if she had the right guide for her climb up Mount Everest, and that figures that out after the fact. (Yu, 2021) Much like with all of her analogies with her climb it is easy to comprehend that when you are starting to move on your product to market, you will get better experiences with people like how she had a team to climb with and you wont necessarily know what you are doing wrong until you fail. The most crucial step is understanding what category to place your product so you can scale profit. When you categorize your product properly and innovatively you effectively sell your product to right market. Understanding all aspects of not only what you are selling and who you selling it too, but understanding how you are going to make the customer feel when the...

In this chapter it is discussed that AI should be taken seriously. Dr. Kelsey invites us to come to our own perspectives and realizations about AI given the large quantity of evidence. When addressing the questions he asks in this chapter, I do consider myself an optimist about AI and that it has a more rapid impact on technology. Many upscale technologies are performing things more effectively and digitally. There is clearly enough evidence that suggests that AI is extremely beneficial to performing business tasks and for human pleasure as well. My only worry in this matter is that AI is going to reduce human capital and assets to a great degree or even make humans lazy as we have robots completing every day tasks for us when they become so advanced. However, I would ask if you are reading to tell me your thoughts regarding self driving cars if they will make humans lazy or if it will be super beneficial in the sense they could drastically reduce car accidents if they are program...

Week 2 Guerilla Marketing Reflection

Image
So far through the first two chapters of Guerilla Marketing have introduced so many interesting ideas and fundamentals of how to succeed in real world businesses. The ins and outs have been very descriptive and thorough and one of the main points of this approach I found the most important was that you do not have to invest a large amount of money if you don't feel it is necessary. Thriving on tactics like finding and attacking your target population is the most important thing you can do as a business owner if you do not have a lot of money. Granted, large companies already possess a great deal of money because they are established and widely advertised. For small businesses guerilla tactics make them masterminds like executing different methods such as websites, canvassing, public relations, telemarketing, billboards and other hard copy advertising.  Knowing where you gain the most business and where you are the most effective with these methods is crucial when it comes to ...

Some of the biggest forms of AI being introduced today are self driving cars. The most well known company that has already come out with a self driving car is Tesla as some of their newest models include an auto pilot mode where the car knows where you are on the road and maintains a constant speed. According to Dr. Kelsey AI in the past has had complexity due to limitations on computer chips, software, or programs that run the computers. (Kelsey. T 2019) When these advances get polished and get brought to todays world many of the things deemed impossible will be ran by computers. With being said algorithm needs to be improved which is the process of teaching a computer on how to perform tasks. With this technology we can teach machines to imitate human brains except with the capability of containing way more data and analytics humans can retain or compute.  The complexity today in self driving cars is the safety concern. It takes a lot of designing and moving pictures to tea...

Guerilla Marketing Chp 2

Guerilla marketing is the edge to to out performing the smarter, more sophisticated and aggressive competitors. It carries all the necessities for entrepreneurial success and all the large corporations and fortune 500 companies are taking this approach. The idea of relying on an effective product or service but also being less costly. If you are a small business on the rise of its ventures Guerilla tactics will set you up to the fullest and give you access to the best brains in marketing. ( Levinson. J 2007)  Guerilla tactics are ensuring your product or service has quality and having an adequate amount of money to produce quality. If you realize the many things your company has to offer can fall into a category of marketing and promotion, you can easily out run your competitors.  Other than just advertising your product, a whole variety of methods are introduced that can help your company including websites, canvassing, personal letters, telemarketing, public relations, circu...

In Chapter two Helen Yu talks about all of the things along her journey up Mount Everest that are impossible to anticipate. Many of the things you can face before you even begin your journey to prepare for what inevitable. Ideally Yu compares this to the process of starting your business and the challenges that come a long the way. Even though you cant predict everything, if you go into it with the best preparation and can fight off obstacles easier. During her hike, making sure the condition of her gear was safe, her health and knowing the possibilities of the weather were the things Yu took into account to make sure she could attack this journey in the best way possible.  Additionally many themes are introduced in her story as she is describing her trip up. For Example as Helen and her team are getting higher in elevation she believes she is going to break down immediately while her friends are not phased by this. We look at this in business perspective that when you are faced wi...

Week 1 Guerilla Marketing Part 2

What stands out to me the most in J. Levenson's text is the organization of steps implemented for the components to be successful. He lists simple steps about traditional marketing along with key concepts of how to construct your ideas around. Additionally, I thought his point on one does not need to invest if they don't feel its necessary. I always thought up until this point that you needed a lot of money to be successful in promoting a brand, but he points out focusing on your target population and knowing how to attack your plan can make your business just as successful.  His statement about traditional marketing, "The way to grow a business geometrically" (pg6), increasing the size of each transaction and making more per customer. This is obtaining maximum profit from each customer and when this is implemented for a great portion of your clientele, you are taking advantage of a lot of opportunity. Growing your business this way expands your profitability and you...

Week 1 Guerilla Marketing Chapter 1

Image
Levinson described marketing as the every bit of contact your company has with anyone from the outside world. Out of all the ways Levinson talks about how marketing is complex it can mean a lot of open doors to resources and opportunities. Besides the fundamentals of branding, advertising, and public relations, one thing stood out to me was attitude. Marketing includes your service, your attitude, and the passion you bring to your business. Ninety percent of start up businesses fail (Yu 2021) so a passionate and positive mind set is critical. Levinson states "Marketing is the art of getting people to change their minds", think ways they never have before and being able to readjust to thinking of something that has never existed before.   Levinson emphasizes that in Guerilla Marketing on your target market and population and way of advertising can prevent you from investing unnecessary money. Hitting the fundamentals correctly will make you money before you have to spend ...

Ascend Your Start-Up Week 1

Image
Ascend Your Start-Up by Helen Yu starts off with her telling about her Journey to climb Mount Everest. It is great way of her starting off the story and then comparing it to making it to the top (success). In this Chapter she introduces the three components of beginning a start up,  which is Base camp, slope, and summit. All in which are crucial for following the stepping stones that brings an entrepreneur to the top of the mountain. She said like many founders she fed her curiosity through books and asking questions. She would go to the library and spend hours reading about mountain climbing (pg 31).,Which she ultimately explains that is how you fuel your start up and recognize challenges.  She introduces the terminology of "Disconnects" and explains how start ups face strategy to execution disconnects. The biggest message from her is if you can dodge these disconnects and missteps it will propel you forward. These disconnects stand in the way of "where you are" a...

AI is on the verge of rising to the new way of business operations. It is highly demanded and already being used by some businesses today. Human assets would be impacted greatly if everything in business was transferred to AI. Robots can be programmed to be extremely smarter than human, getting the job done faster and more efficiently which excludes human employees with great skills and education from some jobs. However, it hasn't pushed out humans just yet, it will still take some time for AI to be solidified and introduced to all most companies but if and when this does happen it will be very scary to see how many jobs will be swept from underneath human employees because a computer can do the job twice as fast.  Technology has been significantly advanced the past few decades and recently we have been faced with human assets needing to adapt to this kind of change. When new technology comes out humans will need to learn new skills and figure out companies will need that com...

Introduction

Image
Hello Everyone!   I am really excited to be in this class and improve my skills in the marketing world. I just Graduated with my Bachelors in Business Administration this past semester from the Mesa Arizona campus. I played Baseball all four years during my time there and was my favorite part of my college experience so far. Now I plan to further my education with this MBA and aspire to work in the marketing department for the Arizona Diamondbacks. I currently work at Chase Field in Phoenix now as a guest service representative.  I was born and raised in Chandler Arizona so I am definitely more used to the heat as I'm sure most of you in Chicago are used to the cold. I enjoy watching all sports, working out, traveling, attending concerts, snowboarding, and spending time with friends.  What drove me to pursue a path in the Masters program was so I could set myself apart from applicants in the sports management field as I heard it is very competitive and ...
