Week 1 Guerilla Marketing Chapter 1
Levinson described marketing as the every bit of contact your company has with anyone from the outside world. Out of all the ways Levinson talks about how marketing is complex it can mean a lot of open doors to resources and opportunities. Besides the fundamentals of branding, advertising, and public relations, one thing stood out to me was attitude. Marketing includes your service, your attitude, and the passion you bring to your business. Ninety percent of start up businesses fail (Yu 2021) so a passionate and positive mind set is critical. Levinson states "Marketing is the art of getting people to change their minds", think ways they never have before and being able to readjust to thinking of something that has never existed before.
Levinson emphasizes that in Guerilla Marketing on your target market and population and way of advertising can prevent you from investing unnecessary money. Hitting the fundamentals correctly will make you money before you have to spend it to get your business right. He advises in traditional marketing to be aware of your surroundings and "scan your horizon" to know which competitors you should feel the need to out perform. Knowing your strengths and how you can become the most profitable should be the most consistent strategy you implement so you can hit the head on the nail of how your company succeeds and becomes effective with their craft.
