Week 3 Helen Yu Video Reflection

 So many interesting notes were made from author Helen Yu, the author of Ascend Your Start-up in this weeks video uploaded by Dr. Kelsey. It was very mind opening to hear some of her answers that intrigued her about entrepreneurship and some of the challenges she faced as a small business owner. Having limited resources and funding her brand before she could actually start up her company made me think a lot about what she has achieved. One thing I did not think about until I viewed the video was the challenge of being a women of color in entrepreneurship and what hardships that may come with. Knowing that aspect of her career I admire everything she must have gone through to get to the point she is at today. 

The heart of the video evolves around her discussing how branding can happen before the company even starts which can be extremely beneficial. Your brand is how everyone outside of your company perceives you and what kind of impression you make with your vision and mission is crucial. Additionally, understanding her journey and realizing technological start-ups helped her in the long run and technological solutions had helped her with many challenges. Ultimately the entire process is about seeking opportunities and what you can make of it because at the end of the day you only get so many and if you don't act on your biggest strengths that is how you tend to fall down the totem pole.
